(8/20/10) Jo Stevens (Eastside Elementary) received a WalMart Grant of $1,000 for Rigby Infoquest Readers. (8/23/10) 21st CCLC Grant AwardRogers Public Schools Receives $1.08 Million
The Arkansas Department of Education has awarded the Rogers Public Schools two 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grants to establish a 21st CCLC pre-kindergarten classroom at Old Wire Road Elementary and a 21st CCLC afterschool program at Oakdale Middle School for the 2010-11 school year. Each grant award is $540,000.00 which totals $1,008,000.00. The life of each grant is 5 years. Approximately 18 four year olds and their families will be served through the 21st CCLC pre-k program. The goal is to provide pre-kindergarten children and their parents learning opportunities so that the pre-k child will enter kindergarten with the readiness skills needed for academic success. It is anticipated that 120 students and their families will be served through the 21st CCLC afterschool program. The goal of the program is to provided middle school students educational enriched experiences based on best practices to raise academic achievement and enhance parental involvement.
