Public School teachers post classroom project requests on DonorsChoose.org.  The projects are then funded by donors who browse and give any amount that inspires them.  Once a project reaches its funding goal, the materials are delivered to the school.  Check It Out - 65% of the projects posted are funded.

Build a Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation
Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation will make grants to qualified non-profit organizations that support the health and wellness of children and families and the promotion of literacy and education for all.
Submission Date:  Accepting children’s health and wellness grant requests and literacy and education grant requests from March until October 28, 2011 and will review them on a rolling basis.
Award Amount:  
Grants will be a one time contribution and range from $1,000 to $10,000 with the average amount being $1,500.

Lowe's Toolbox for Education Grant
The Toolbox for Education Grant program provides grants to public k-12 schools and school parent-teacher groups associated with public schools throughout the U.S. that develop projects that encourage parent involvement and build stronger community spirit.  Prefernce is given to funding requests that have a permanent impact such as facility enhancement (both indoor and outdoor) and landscaping/clean up projects.

Red Robin Foundation U-Act Grant
U-ACT which stands for Unbridled Acts, or random acts of kindness, is a character-building initiative specifically for elementary and middle schools with grades K-8, which aims to inspire and energize students about the value of being kind to others. Participating schools are asked to submit an idea for a kindness program to the Foundation for a chance to earn a grant ranging from $150-$2,500.  At the end of the 2011-2012 school year, one school will be named the Champion School and will receive an additional $5,000 grant.
Submission Deadline:  August 1, 2011 - March 31, 2012
